MEET SHELLEY
Shelley Wright grew up in East Detroit in a single-parent household, where she was taught the values of hard work and appreciation for what her family had. She was a talented athlete, participating in sports from an early age. Through athletics, she realized that overachieving in her endeavors would help her succeed both on and off the court.
Shelley graduated from East Detroit High School with high honors and went on to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. After college, she soon discovered that the corporate world was not for her.
In 1989, Shelley started her first business as a residential general contractor, which she operated successfully for 18 years. For the past 22 years, she has owned and managed a process serving company, employing up to 20 hardworking individuals across the state of Michigan.
She currently resides on Lake St. Clair, where she enjoys boating and golfing. A devoted animal lover, Shelley has four toy poodles.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Michigan football ranks at the top of her list
Shelley’s interest in politics began in 2015 when she became concerned about the direction the country was headed. Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda resonated with her belief that taxpayers deserved better representation. This philosophy inspired her to get involved at the state level, where she felt she could make a difference
Now, Shelley Wright is running for State Senate to help build a new foundation for Michigan’s young people, who she believes have been negatively affected by the policies enacted by Lansing’s current administration over the past several years.

IMPORTANT ISSUES FOR EVERYONE
"Michigan's 12th Senate District must return to issues that matter, not social issues, because the American Dream has become a pipe dream for too many."
— Shelley Wright~
SENIOR CITIZENS
Michigan’s seniors have earned their support, yet rising costs and cuts to services are hurting them. Senior programs should be protected—not reduced—and expanded to meet their needs. Public safety programs that protect senior citizens also need to be expanded.
EDUCATION
Education in Macomb County continues to decline. Parents are frustrated with the state’s woke school policies. Even in top-performing districts like Grosse Pointe, the concern isn’t grades—it’s the agenda being pushed by school boards. I stand for parental rights and the expansion of school choice in Michigan.
SKILLED WORKERS & MANUFACTURING
Legislators need to remember Michigan’s “Forgotten Men and Women.” By promoting skilled trades and expanding Pell Grants and scholarships, we can make Macomb County a manufacturing powerhouse once again.
SMALL BUSINESS
As a small business owner, I understand firsthand how burdensome regulations and excessive red tape can hold back growth and innovation. When the government steps aside and allows businesses to compete freely, entrepreneurs create more jobs, offer better products and services, and keep prices affordable.
LAKE ST. CLAIR
As a boat owner and lake enthusiast my entire adult life, I’ve witnessed a decline in water quality in our canals and lakes. Clean water and muck issues in Lake St. Clair remain major concerns for District 12. I stand with Representative St. Germaine to highlight affected areas and am committed to addressing water quality problems.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Affordable housing is a serious concern, and it’s closely connected to education. We must create opportunities for young people to build their futures and achieve the American Dream right here in Michigan, instead of leaving to find better prospects elsewhere.
PUBLIC SAFETY
There should never be talk of defunding our police, fire, and first responders. They should all be fully funded at both the state and local levels. Being safe in our homes, neighborhoods, businesses, and throughout our community is an American right.
ROADS & INFRASTRUCTURE
Business owners stress the importance of smooth roads and dependable infrastructure as two key reasons to stay in business or choose an area for a new business. Michigan has a lot of work to do for both. The funds are there, and both must be approved without raising taxes.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
I believe in responsible spending, maintaining a balanced budget, and running government with the same efficiency and accountability as a successful business. Every taxpayer dollar should be spent wisely, priorities must be clear, and waste must be minimized to ensure sustainable growth and services for our community.
2nd AMENDMENT
I strongly support the 2nd Amendment and responsible gun ownership. I hold a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and am a National Rifle Association (NRA) member. I’m tough on crime and believe in zero tolerance for anyone who breaks the law in our state.
TITLE IX AND SPORTS
I support women competing against women. Biological men competing against women is a Title IX violation, is physically dangerous, and takes opportunities away from women.
IMMIGRATION
There is a right way and a wrong way to come into this country. There was a set process with no exceptions to become an American citizen. Michigan should not make exceptions and fund programs for those who are here illegally. Strengthen our borders in Port Huron, Detroit, and along our Great Lakes.
